We had lovely weather at the Michigan Fish-In today, sunny and in the 70's with a bit of breeze. The fish were jumping into our arms at the Comings Flats.

We had a great picnic with Jack Hise and Joe Valencic cooking the burgers and hot dogs.

Then there was the casting contests, developed and ran by Brad Sherrick (Kaboom1). This year there were five stations in the contest, stations one and two you had to get your fly through a vertical hoop, one attached to a pine tree, with lots of branches, the other was attached to a pole.

The third station was two different hoops on the ground that you had to cast your fly into. The fifth station had two separate tests. The first was a distance cast after your fly was laid on the ground at a marked distance. You then had to draw back and cast for distance in one movement.

The second part was casting for distance using only the line, no rod. You held the reel only and had to cast the line for distance. It was funny how some cast farther without their rods than with them!

Pictures will be forthcoming.
