I have a Ross Evolution on a Sage TXL 1 weight, and it seems perfect to me. The Evolution is the lightest that I have found with a drag, and is made like a fine Swiss watch. I don't know that a good drag is really necessary, but Bill Byrd thinks they're an absolute "must have" on an ultralight reel.

I'm thinking about putting a Battenkill Barstock II on a 6', 2/3 weight I'm planning on building. You might want to give them a look-see.
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.

There are some Okuma Vashon reels on ebay at very low prices. I beleive they are around $50.00 with free shipping. This reel does have a sealed system. It also machined aluminum.

THe White River Classic UL size weighs in at 2.2oz and is under $100 very nice reel. Also J Austin Forbes magnesium is about the same in all regards can be found on ebay. The ryobi 255mg is the same reel as the forbes but are hard to come by..If on a budget get a Crystal river cr001a very durable graphite reel that weigh nothing can hold a dt3 and about 20yds of backing for under $15 new..redington ct 2/3. Martin mg3. Vintage reels I have that work well include the Edwards 30, sportcraft 60, Compac 25, Lamiglas lf34...yeesh there are quite a bit.
    Hope that helps...

I've been using Okuma reels a lot and they are fantastic quality for the money. I use a very basic Sierra 4/5 for most situations. "Most situations" meaning any time I use a 3 or 4 wt rod. I landed a 3 lb+ spotted bass Thursday on my 3wt with that Sierra. It has great drag and you can get them new for $30-$40 or cheaper. Another reason I use them is their size. They are very small and very durable. I prefer smaller reels, usually standard arbor, for anything 6wt and under.
