Yes, they were little ones. Probably about half grown.
Didn't actually take any bravery to stand there, Steve. In fact, at first I was scared to move in case they might notice me and "take action," which, as Ron and Joe pointed out, would have been very unpleasant. Besides, it was so much fun watching their antics that once I decided to not move away, it was very enjoyable.
As to tying material, Larry, I have a very good supply of black and white horse mane and tail hair, and more readily available whenever I need it. I should pester those little guys and take a chance on ...... ?? I don't think so.
