Default Swap Of The Month July

I have the honor of hosting the swap for July. The theme for this month will be 'original' patterns. No standard recipe flies allowed. These must be your own creations. But I will make it a bit easier for any who might be creatively challenged: They can be a variation on a standard pattern, such as different material, wing-type, or even color. Any material will qualify, from spray foam, Gorilla Glue, to duct tape. Anything goes. Any style fly, any size, for any species, in any waters. Wherever your imagination takes you. I will try to post pictures of our creations at the end of the swap, so everyone can see what we came up with.

Standard rules apply: Toe Tags, stamped return box, etc..... Flies due on, or about July 31.

I know I originally told you I'd do a PTN variation, but I'll hold off on declaring just yet. I also have a bluegill pattern that I've used for a long time that I might throw into the mix.

This should be interesting. Not sure what I'll tie yet.

I will tie my East Fork Candy Nymph. Its a fly i created while fishing years ago on the East Fork San Gabriel River. We were fishing bait & wait style with yellow power bait(knocking them dead) When i got home it got me thinking what if i tied a fly that looks like power bait yellow. Bam Boom a quick trip to the fly shop and i was in business. That was about 15 years ago(???).
    So here it is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I'm going to do a variation of the woven nymph, largely because I love to tie it (very, very easy), it looks great, and it is absolutely deadly. Everyone should have a few in their box.

I will be tying what I call an SPF. It is a great minnow pattern.

I'd like to welcome a new tyer to the swap, texfly. This ought to be a fun swap, and a chance to see what we can all come up with.

Sorry Ben. I didn't mean to leave you off the list. I guess I just got in too big of a hurry. I have corrected it.

I think we have a full-boat now, with 13 tyers. If anyone has a problem with tying an extra fly, please PM me, and we will find a way to work it out to everyones satisfaction. I just didn't want anyone to drop-out.

    Thanks to everyone for participating.

Default Swap of the month July

I'll do a mininymph which has caught me giant Grayling of 20 inch and more, but fat as can be. I always fish them as a pointfly in a rig of three. The middle dropper has a heavy nymph to reach the bottom and the pointfly trails after it. The topdropper usually has an emerger.
