I knew I did not fit in. Over 90% of my fishing is subsurface.

Hmmm Uh...... Z....... maybe you should find a better floatant because I noted that your fly didn't stay dry for more than a nano second whilst fishing the Lochsa! Or maybe someone switched them on you and subbed in a bead head? Yeah that must be it. A practical joke they swapped your dry for a series of wets. Aha! mystery solved.
For God's sake, Don't Quote me! I'm Probably making this crap up!

    You've never ate a worm???

I must confess, I did swallow the worm in a bottle of muscatel on my 44th birthday.

    Default Wow!

Me thinks you protest too much?
Are you a closet dunker?? ROLF.

My apologies. I just find that life has a nasty sense of humor sometimes.
Really.. A guy who thinks fishing is hiking into the mountains with a stick, sinker and worms; or sitting in your boat on a lake with no bait on the hook as you drink a coke, eat a sandwich and enjoy the sun, is playing admin for FAOL.. That there is funny stuff!! At least it gives me a unique perspective as to how a newbie might struggle to find stuff. That's an advantage of sorts I hope.

I'm going to have to break down and actually learn about tossing flies.
I'll start with getting the site streamlined, and hopefully learn while working.
Then it's tying lessons for me. Something without a hook. I can't see the point of hooking a fish unless I hope to eat it. But the trip and getting a strike on your non hooked fly sound like a hoot.

OK OK,, so I'm a klutz and I figure I'd hook the biggest fish in the river (ME) so I'm playing it safe when the time comes.

And to all my bait buddies.. WOOT! There's hope yet!
