This one is for a customer that does his own wood burning/engraving so I supplied him a wood grip so he could burn a trout into it that he wanted. 6' 2/3wt Tiger eye blank, seat to match the grip. nickle silver hardware, single foot guides. He wanted a purple tone to the wraps without being "too purple" so I used Cobalt blue without CP which ends up a nice deep blue/purple color (the light outside is fading fast so the true color of the wraps didn't show up)

I built a rod on that blank last year and really enjoyed fishing it with a DT3F line. The rod really liked a DT4F line out to about 35-40'.

Your customer, taking that blank to a very high level with your craftsmanship and the quality components, is going to be one very happy fellow, Steve.

Steve , did you butt the seat(instead of inletting) then wrap the hood with thread and apply finish? I've seen you do this before and forgot to ask. It has a unique look and would allow you to match the windings with any color you choose. A neat idea...........Ed

Yep I do that on some of the smaller wt rods that have a thinner grip Ed. Just butt up the front hood to the grip and then wrap it with matching thread and apply finish over it. Helps to tie the whole color theme together.
