Default Lamiglas Esprit Graphite Butt Repair

I have a 9' 2 pc 5 wt Lamiglas Esprit Graphite rod that a friend gave me about 10 years ago. Because I have a couple of Sage rods I just haven't used it but my son wants to start fly fishing and I think it would not be a bad rod for him. When I pulled it out the other day I found the end of the butt section that holds the bottom of the reel foot has broken off somewhere along the way and the hood that holds the top of the reel foot is also missing. I took it to Jimmy's to see if he has any parts and we found an inexpensive butt section that would work but I would have to take the whole butt section off and replace it, which I'm willing to do if necessary. However, it would be much simpler if I could just find a larger hood and end piece (the diameter of the existing butt section is bigger than the newer ones). I couldn't find anything but blanks on the Lamiglas web site. Any suggestions where I might find such parts?

    dal,
You might want to email or call Lamiglas and ask them for their advice. I'm not sure, but they may have one of the older "no questions asked, lifetime warranties." Otherwise, I would suggest going ahead and rebuilding the broken parts.

I am not sure this will help, but this was a cheap rod that followed me home from AZ several years ago. The butt cap was lost a couple of years back and I found a nice replacement on the end of a spent 12 ga. shotgun shell. Of course, this is vintage redneck engineering.

Thanks, everyone who responded. Lamiglas referred me to Anglers Workshop and they did some checking and even walked across the parking lot to Lamiglas with some pictures I took but after all is said and done, the bottom line is I'll have to replace the whole reel seat. But, Uncle Jesse, I really like your shotgun shell idea. Maybe on another rod....
