A sad sign of the times. Offhand I've seen about a 14-15 places go out of business. One because the owners retired and one because the owner died but most went down because of big retailers squeezing them out. Keep in mind a fly shop has one type of clientele and nothing really to fall back on and flyfishing isn't really a growth industry now. Same with gunshops and archery shops. Many have gone away as people gravitate towards big retailers Hard to keep in business against huge outfits like Cabelas,Bass Pro & others. One shop went out though it was in a store that sold paddling, hiking and backcamping gear. At on time during the early 90's the place was a goldmine but eventually competition and slower growth spelled it's demise.
