After a day on the water yesterday where my fly line and guides froze up, I had another one of my series of firsts today. I hooked a "decent" brown and on the 3rd jump, it threw the hook. Being majorly disappointed, I reeled in to look at the tippet to make sure that it wasn't nicked and noticed that the 2X strong TMC2457 size 16 hook had a very unusual shaped shank. The fish had done a job on the hook. I guess after that fish it could have been considered a 2X strong, 3X wide gape, semi-straightened. It is now been retired and is hanging near my vise. One time like this I guess I could consider funny. If I had a say so though... it'd only be a one time thing.
