    Default Nice evening

Dropped my son off at youth group and fished a pond in the city limits of my home. (Greenville Ky). Caught a couple of small bass and about 10 nice gills between 9 and 10 inches. Used 3 different flies. I don't really know what they are called just something that I tied. Black Leach, foam beetle/dropper and a tiny jig. Last fish of the evening was a 4lb channel cat that really gave my 5wt a workout! Looking forward to a summer of some fun fly fishing local lakes, streams, farm ponds and strip pits.

Thumbs up Much of my fishing is an hour or two also!

    Hi CC,

Much of my fishing is done in an hour or two time slot just like your evening. Great way to relax and still maintain peace at home. 8T

Nice thing about community ponds they are usually close and clean, no mud and muck and an hour or so can be a lot of fun, thanks for the report.

You hit the nail on the head! It was very relaxing and no fuss. I enjoyed trying different flies and retrieves that evening. I am learning to just sit on the edge of the water and just watch and see what is happening rather than "gotta fish gotta fish time is wastin".

I just remembered that James Smith (GA) from this board sent me the black leeches that I caught some of the fish on. Thanks James

Thanks for the nice comments from everyone making me feel welcome.

Awesome fish! I've had a ton of luck with a leech pattern that looks almost exactly like that! I tie mine with maroon mohair body and a brown marabou tail.
