Well Dru my advice would first be to pick a body of water that you have good access to and that you know has fish. If you don't catch fish there, don't just give up on that place and go somewhere else the next time out. Keep coming back until you manage to find something that works. Confidence is a big factor. You have to keep plugging away at it until you develop some confidence by catching something. The confidence then feeds itself.

My second piece of advice would be to stay away from nymphs for now. If you see fish rising, try dry flies. If not try streamers and wet fllies. You want to be in contact with the fly, not some piece of fluff.

Also, give bluegill fishing a try.
