Default two great days bream fishing

i finally got to go fishing and use my 3 wt rod the bream were on the beds and fishing was great i caught many fish some small some large but they were all fun this was my first fish caught on the new 3wt started out throwing royal cochman wet, worked good for a while changed to the gimp fly ( saw this one on flyfishohio) it was hands down the best fly yesterday.
today started with the gimo fly worked for some time then the fish would only dart at it , changed to Al Campbels lace cadis pupa and the bream went wild. dont know why i bream fished with a 6 wt rod for so long but the 3wt was way more fun. going to lake fork tomorrow and try to find big gills there, catching gills on light fly rod is addicting.

Sounds like a blast! Here in washington the bluegill are a little later on their beds than elsewhere in the states, looking forward to it for sure. The 3wt is exciting, now try a 1wt!!

We've been hammering them over this way, too!

The old standby olive hare's ear has been the #1 do the tricker. So far poppers and surface dries have not been as productive. But cast that hare's ear over by their bed, just let it sink (I tie them with weight) and they'll hit it hard on the way down. Lots of fun ... those big bream are scrappers of the first order!

My favorite bream rod is a 9' 5wt (IM-6) medium action "Stillwater" rod.

    Talking Great Fun

    Hi RD

I've got a relatively soft, 9ft, #4 weight and a Cabela's 7ft, #2 weight that are wonderful for brim. The #2 weight, in particular, is a total blast for brim and the occasional 1-2 pound LMB is like a 20 pound tarpon. Fun doesn't get much better! 8T
