Yep, I did it, I used a split shot today... Its against MY rules, not that I think its anything wrong with anyone else using them, its just me. I was fishing in a place today and i know has trout in it, I did land a couple but new those boogers was hangin deep in the creveses of those rocks. they would not rise to the top for nothi'n, I could see them feeding. Flash here flash there, feeding away, I tried everything i had and every method I know of. After a long time of just now and then strikes. I was so frustrated. I put on a split shot, and it worked. But I did learn something that LF already had told me and i'm gonna go back and practice with out the split shot. I would short cast because of the shot and it would give the fly more time to drop. Next time I'm gonna try to roll cast up stream after my intial cast to get the fly to drop more. Oh well, I did catch some nice rainbows...
