What do you guys use to ream out pre-fromed cork grips? I'm trying to go from 1/4" tapered to 3/8" on the butt end

I have a series of rat tail files that I use. They work well if you are willing to work on them a bit. Not as fast as some of the reamers I've used, but the finish of the cork remains better. I usually don't have to use a winding check unless I want one for appearances.

    Default Tapered files

Fritz: They sell tapered files that do a great job. I use one that came with a kit and it's nice. Go slow and keep trying on the handle so you maintain a tight fit. I have files like Ol' Blue, too. Remember, you gotta be patient because it is easy to remove too much cork. I ruined 2 handles before I realized what I was doing wrong. Either way, patience is the key.

Files are the best way to go. Be careful of those reamers. Most are coated with an abrasive that can flake off inside the handle then leave scratches on the blank when you test fit them.
