The answer to your question is yes and no. Gary Lafontaine popularized Antron in the fly tying world. There are 100% Antron yarns or similar like Zelon, etc which are coarse, continuous fiber yarns. Then there is what Lafontaine called sparkle yarn. This yarn is 3 or 4 ply knitting yarn. It is approximately 50% colored creslan acrylic and 50% undyed, clear antron fibers. It is much finer in fiber than say Zelon or similar. Lafontaine used sparkle yarn for his Sparkle Pupa series and many of his other creations.
