At the end of the year I typically check, clean and stow away my rods for the next few months. I fish all year long but during the winter I typically only fish in a few places; and at those places I use one or two different rods. The rest of the year is a totally different story!

As I looked at the number of rods I used during the year and subsequently cleaned and stored, the number surprised me. I like to use different rods for different waters and as a result the list was long.

While I definitely don't feel such extravagance is necessary; I like to use different rods of different lengths, line sizes and actions; it keeps my casting skills sharp and me confused. I'm sure plenty of fishers use just one or two rods all season because of preference or finances.

So I ask: what do you do and why?
