Destin area wade fishing

Hello Everyone,
I would like to try saltwater flyfishing in the Destin area. Any suggestions to where to go, when is the best time of the year, types of fish available, last but not least, fly patterns. I will be wade fishing with 8wt outfit, float and sink tip lines. I have tried spin fishing from around the bridge area with no luck.
