    Default Bluegill get together?

Anyone interested in a little bluegill get together in a month or so? I'm talking about somewhere in SE Kansas with canoe access and some primitive camping. I do have somewhere in mind, but would consider suggestions if someone has any.
There should be opportunity for bass, catfish and crappies, too, and possibly a trout, but that might be tough with a flyrod. I know Tim (tlerm) was interested.
    Sound like fun to anyone?

I'm interested. Don't know if I can make it though. I've already bought enough OOS fishing licenses this year...

I'm considering going out to the mined land wildlife area by West Mineral, KS. There isn't much there for amenities, but it should be fun to fish with canoes. It amounts to a bunch of old strip pit mines that W@P took over. There are hundreds of large and small lakes. We can set up camp wherever, canoes are allowed on all of the lakes, and no personal watercraft are allowed (jet skis). Motorized boats for fishing only. I think sometime in mid-May would be OK, but if things warm up, we might consider going out a bit earlier by a week or 2.

Sounds good to me. I don't have a canoe, but I do have a float tube.

Uh, oh. I did some cross checking, and I'm not sure the specific area I screen grabbed is officially in the MLWA. Plenty of others out there, but thought I'd give a full disclosure. Truth in advertising and all of that jazz. The picture is fixed now.

Also FYI: for info on the area, look here.

The acrobat file is the brochure, and will give you plenty of info on the MLWA.

I'm looking forward to getting back to the area. I haven't been down there for a couple of years, and miss the fishing. Oh, yeah, don't forget bug spray. This is where I picked up a tick 15 years ago and ended up with rocky mtn spotted fever. Not recommended, though easy to treat once diagnosed.

I think we'll try to set up camp in units 21, 22, 23 or 24. Does anyone have a preference on any of them? I've camped in different areas each time, and they are all similar. We'll have to come up with something to post that will allow everyone to connect when we get there, especially if someone else is in the spot we pick to meet up in. I'm not sure if my cell phone will have signal or not, so we'll have to set a meeting place and time as a backup. I'll have my FAOL hat on to help with identification.
I'll have coffee, and everyone is welcome to stop in for a cup if you aren't already camped nearby. Might even have some decaf in the evening if you prefer. An evening fish fry might be nice to have, too, if we can manage to catch a few.

I personally would not have any preference of one or another. I have not been there and would just have to pick randomly.
