    Default Ross gunnison

Can anyone give me info on a Ross Gunnison reel ? I have a chance to get it for less than $100.00 . Is it worth it ?????

I have a Gunnison. I use it on my 3wt Scott rod.

I really like it and I paid a good bit more than $100.00 for it.

If the reel is in good shape, I'd say it's a good deal.

There will be a lot of opinions but I say hell yes. It is a discontinued reel but the spools are readily available. I have a lot of Ross reels and I think they are awesome. Wicked drags and silky smooth. I feel that you would be pressed to find a better reel for cheaper. That being said, you should consider the condition and make sure the line wt range is appropriate for your type of fishing. That is a good deal.

Don't think twice. One of the best reels ever made. I've seen fewer returns on it than any other reel in about 15 years of working in fly shops, guiding, and my personal fishing.

If you have a problem with it Ross would still be able to fix it.

But the reel. You won't be disappointed.

If it's in any kind of functinal condition, I'd get it if you need it. The Gunnison was, in my opinion, the very best reel Ross ever made. Shame on them for discontinuing it!

Get it. I've used a G3 for about 5 years now for steelhead, etc. The Gunnison is a great reel that fell victim to the "must-have-large-arbor" mentality.

    Perform this test.

Grab the Gunnison and whatever other reel you think is the "best" that you own or could own.

Turn both sideways and spin the spool as fast as you can. See which one spins the longest before petering out. I bet it is the Gunnison. It is a well made reel.

    At that price....Buy the Reel!!
That being said, I have a Gunnison 4 and heard that spools are all available but except from Ross at full price , I have not seen many on the market. AND you have to be carefull because the pre-98 spools do not fit post 98 reels and vise-versa. Just where are all these spools for Ross Gunnisons hiding?
I wont sell the reel but I would like an inexpensive spool.

    Cheers
