    Default Old Timey Flies

Inspired by an article in Art Of Angling Journal from some years back.
The picture really doesn't do them justice.

One of these days I'm gonna learn how to smith my own hooks for an even old-timeyier (?)
look. Until then I'll just pop the front off an Eagle Claw.

    DJ,

Very nice. Did you use silk work gut for the leaders?

Nice job on the "antique' style flies. I'd be interested in what you used for the snell material. It looks different on several of the flies - or is that an optical illusion - or just my bad old eyes?

... forgot to add that part.
The leaders are made from horse hair.
I learned how to manipulate horse hair many years ago when I managed a leather and craft store in Flint, MI.

I have actually used the stuff to land a few fish just to be silly.

The flies are made from wool I found at a good yarn store many moons ago. They had a sale on different colors.
