a while back i bought a swell Temple Fork 8 WT and reel for Best Fishing Buddy to take to Florida so he wouldn't have to use mine and would have it handy for practicing.

today he caught his firstbone fish with it.

the second bonefish took the fly line with him. the guide (natch) says, "Who tied that?" after some cogitation we were able to say, "Gee, no idea!"

so now, when we buy the nice things that people sell here (and they are always good, in my experience), we will take the time to check the knots!

P.S. and this is the fish tale part: about 20 minutes later the guide yells, "There's the line!" i grab it, and the fish is still on it. before i can stand up and hand the line to BFB, the fish breaks off--leaving us with the line to put back on the reel. the guide did this, all the while looking bemused--he'd seen lines go before, but never come back!
