    Default question about an old rod

    my father gave me my first fly rod when i was about 11years old i pulled it out the other day and was thinking of using it again but not sure what weigth line to use the rod is an Apachie made by berkley int'l the numbers on it are 775y- 8'. oh that makes the rod somewhere around 43 years old more or less. any help would be appreciated.

    I don't think I ever owned that particular rod. But I do remember that most (but not all) 8' rods from that time frame were made to cast a 6 or 7 wt line. Might be a good place to start. If you want to try for a definitive answer post this on the fiberglass fly rod board:
