E-Gads!! All the many, many, MANY trips, that I've made to "The Joe"! When living in the Panhandle for 16 years, The Joe was also my "Home Waters" and even now, living in Oregon, it still is.
Every year, since leaving that area in '93 I've made it back up there for a 2-3 week stint. Staying in Tin Can Flats campground and fishing The Joe from Prospector Creek clear up to Red Ives.
At noon, when it would get to warm to fish, at times, you can give the fish and yourself a rest and drive up "over the hump" and down to St.Regis Montana for lunch, visit a fly shop or five, down the road in Missoula, then head back up and over and fish the evening.............back on The Joe!
Not too many waters around, you can do so much on and have such a great time on, left anywhere.
Truly, once of the finest, blue ribbon rivers, left, in the West.
Great story! Thank You!
