    Default Chipped Ferrule Edge

After my last fishing outing I noticed on a female ferrule's edge there was a chip off the edge. It got to what appears to be some thread. How easy is it to put a little epoxy on it to fill it in or some other repair. It seems like a small chip and shouldn't weaken the ferrule, but I want to be sure to make a good repair. Any suggestions? Has anybody had this problem?

Hans, that chip would scare me, right in the most vulnerable part of the ferrule. There was a post lately dealing with whether the epoxy or the thread gave strength to the wrap and the concensus was that it was the thread. So, I think I would bite the bullet and replace the wrap.

Looks like the trim ring was painted on, not thread. A coat of rod finish just might work if the trim is just paint.

I would just clean it with denatured alcohol and apply some rod finish. You can use a pin or paper clip to apply it. Just be careful it doesn't run before it's cured. Use a turner or at least check and rotate it often.
