    Default rod building style

I was just thinkin' - about the people who have a definite style in their rods, and then the folks like me, and thought you might get a kick out of my next 2 projects - from the sublime - subdued 'boo, to the ridiculous - RX7 with those holographic components I just couldn't resist.

    Dang Betty!

You keep building rods and you will need a truck to get to Michigan! Oh well...I guess everyone needs a vice or two.

LOL, Brad! Those are herefishy's newest builds! I'm working on two matched sets of Diamond Glass rods, two rods each, for Cary and me. Did pick up a couple ideas from herefishy's post!

    herefishy,
I fully understand the need to build something new and different. Some of the best rods out there were built by experiment. However, (you knew there was going to be a caveat didn't you) that boo stick is going to be the best of the best. Regardless of the weight of the rod, I'm sure it will make you happy. It's already a great looking stick.
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.

    Default Illusion "holographic" guides

Ok. I've been hoarding about 25 " illusion" guide sets, with various tip tops, from PacBay. They've discontinued their snake guides in the 'illusion' finish. I bought the tail end of their inventory because I keep thinking "someday I'll . . . . . " I think they're neat. I built a rod with purple wraps and illusion guides a couple of years ago, called it my "Purple Haze!" It was a charcoal blank and I couldn't help but add a nickel silver seat. Lot of folks turned their nose up at it but I caught a lot of trout with it on the Madison and Ruby Rivers!!

Glad to see you're using them. When I have some free time, I'll put up some of these guides for sale on my web.

    Ron
