I would like to echo gigmaster's suggestions. I always go for a decked kayak vs a sit-on-top, but there is a strong contingency that is pro sit-on-top for fishing. I don't fully agree, but that's just me.

Having said that, I do have a Wilderness Systems Freedom. I don't think they still make this model. If you can find one, I find it very stable, reasonably fast and comfortable. It doesn't have an area where you can put a 'crate' like some of the other kayaks that are designed with fishermen in mind, but it's ok for shorter outings with limited gear.

Go for a bigger boat, buddy. You'll be glad you did.
