The shed warmed up a little (finally)
Got the boo built, lined up all the ffishin gear, the shed warmed up today, so until the regular season opener, figured I'd start making a few grips. All glued up and will be sanded to cylinder shape until whatever final shaping is determined.........Ed
Once again we will be seeing some awesome grips. I like the ones laying down not on the gluing turning rods the best. Look forward to seeing them when they are done

Harley .........here's a better idea of what they look like with preliminary sanding , ready for final shaping.....This just gives me a leg up when I go to build a rod. The grips can be shaped into whateveer style wanted and saves making them from scratch at the time of the build.......Ed

I like the one on the left but they all look very very good. Your use of cork and foam on the grips I have seen you build is just awesome. I am hoping by June I will have my shop set up for the grips and seats.
Quick question, what cork do you buy? Yours looks pretty good, I bought some from mudhole at $2.50 a ring that is really nice but might drop down a grade for my next.
I don't build rods but can say I like the looks of those, they are some snazy looking grips...
The Old Story/Cork Grading....or lack there of
Foo........good question I forget where I bought that cork and for the future I'm not sure where I'll buy. It is hard to find decent cork over the internet because you cant phyically see it and due to the fact that there is no standards placed on cork grading.........one guys flor grade may be another guys extra select............or worse. There needs to be a standard , and I think you'll find all builders would agree with that statement! the problem is setting it up as well as enforcing it.........Ed
