    Default Jimsnarocks Texas trip

I started this yesterday but went to the drive-in theatre last night to see the new "Star Trek" movie. Lost all I had written.
The Texas trip went well. Only problem was there was so much driving (It's a BIIIGGG state) and visiting to do, I only had one opportunity to fish. That was at a stock pond next to my nephew's home in Weatherford. I caught a few bluegill and one LMB at about 2 lbs.
My children were all well and working. My sister and her family put on a BBQ for me, my son and 2 grandkids. I met my youngest grandson in Brownfield. He is 6 months old. I also met my newest great-great niece in Weatherford. She was born on Easter Sunday.
My friend in Llano and I had a very good visit. They just celebrated the 100 years of the ranch a few years ago. I thought it was cool that that ranch and the one I was raised on both were homesteaded the same year and I worked on them both.
My oldest daughter is working at a BBQ cafe in West Texas and I ate good there. Chopped brisket sandwich for lunch and all you can eat catfish platter for supper. Man, They layed it on heavy and it was all delicious.
As side trips I went to the Billy the kid museum and Bosque Redondo museum in Fort Sumner, NM, The Fort Worth Cabela's store, and Willie's Place in Carl's Corner, TX.
I took over 300 photos of family, friends and stuff.
I have a new project too. I am taking pictures of ranch gates with signs and brands. I will use them as decoration on my front porch. There are some really cool gates out there.
As for animals, I saw close to a hundred deer through the three states; feral hogs, porcupines, antelope, bison and small critters were also spotted. I also saw numerous longhorn cattle.
All in all, it was a good trip. I used a rental car to save wear and tear on my car. Had a '09 Pontiac G6. It was a nice ride and got really good gas mileage. I averaged 32 MPG on a 3000+ mile trip.
    About the photos:
    1. My grandson fishing at my nephew's stock pond. First time we fished together.
    2. I caught this on a beaded woolly bugger black with red flash-a-boo.
    3. My nephew with a nice LMB.
    4. Secondhand lions. Me on the right and Bruce on the left. Friends for over
    40 years.
    5. Longhorn Steer. One reason there's so much BS in Texas.

I'm either going to, coming from or thinking about fishing. Jim
