Yes, Hormel/Spam is now in the S&P 500 market group of stocks. An honor to be sure. Especially in these hard market/financial times.
I just knew that someday, SPAM would get the recognition is so richly deserves

    Marco,

Could it be that in these hard economic times more people are forced to eat Spam because it is an affordable alternative to real meat. Not to suggest that Spam is not real or meat of some sort.

Anybody actually looked at the price of Spam lately?

    It ain't cheap no more.

Still like it diced up, fried crispy, and scrambled with eggs, though....

Actually Hormel Foods (HRL) at $32.80 is only about 25% off it's 52 week high of $42 (+-). And now being included in the S&P 500 index it's bound (?) to skyrocket.

Desparate times call for desparate measures, right?

What's cheaper by the pound, Spam or dog food? Of course, you'd have to go canned DF to get that rich, slimy mouthfeel of Spam.

I rolled it before the merger...insider information. Yep, the stuff is about $3 per can her in the Island Nation. Once people found out it was all meat, they stopped buying those damn veggi burgers with all the soybean fillers.

A student of mine brought me back a Spam Single (vac-pac of one slice of Spam) from the Nat'l FFA conference last year. It has an expy date of Sept 16, 2010. I pinned it up in my class by its peg hole. I gross my students out by telling them I am going to eat it on Sept 15, 2010...cold, right in front of class.

Spam! It's not just for Hawaiians anymore. mmmmMMMMM Spamburgers on whole wheat bun (to make it more healthy)
