Thread: Fishing in Heaven?

  1. #1

    Default Fishing in Heaven?

I always wonder what Heaven will be like when I'm standing waist deep with a flyrod in my hand... Will we be able to enjoy the things we enjoy now? This may be the answer we hope for:

The prophet Ezekiel had a vision of the Promised Land, (I believe still in our future). In chapter 47 verses 9-10 it says, "It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish...And it will come about that fishermen will stand beside it; from Engedi to Eneglaim there will be a place for the spreading of nets."

So, the next time you find that secret spot and wonder if that is what Heaven will be like, you may not be far from the truth!!!

    Enjoy

It's often said the Good Lord doesn't deduct from your life the time spent fishing. My wife says I should live forever.

Someone (on this site?) has a tag that says, "If dogs don't go to Heaven I want to go where they are." Love it.

Thanks for pointing that one out 'guides'. Neat.

    Hey AFG,

Interesting topic and one that has been
on my mind for the last two weeks. RK and
Al both discussed this shortly before they left us. We made some tentative
plans to fish together when we get there
as we never had the opportunity to do so
here. RK said he'd put me on fish when I
    got there. I believe him.*G*

The reason it's been on my mind for the
last two weeks is that I was diagnosed with
possible lung cancer two weeks ago. While
my doctor told me to keep the faith and not
get too worked up until we got confirmation,
it's easier said than done. I had pretty
much accepted the inevitable and frankly
that fishing trip was the silver lining.*G*

Well, today the results of the tests came
back from the hospital after getting lost
for over a week. They were negative which
is a big positive in my humble opinion.
You see, over the last two weeks, I've made
a pretty extensive list of things I didn't
get done and I've got my work cut out
for me. But one day, and not too soon I
hope, on the other side of those pearly
gates there will be a FAOL regional fish in.
    Bring hooks, and unsweetened Kool-Aid.
There will be plenty of hackle on site.*G* Warm regards, Jim

I agree with you Jim and I would bet my last fly they have all the hot spots covered. The hooks will be barbless and the waters pristine. No wind, A little drizzle from time to time and the rocks covered with new lavra. Hatches in the am, afternoon and at dusk.

Regards to all here and those in a higher place in our hearts and in the heavens.

    Philip

First JH glad to here your test was negative. Betty what a great shot. I to hope Heaven is a place that looks like that. A place we all can meet someday.

The story J.C. refers to is called
    "A Devil of a Fisherman" by G.E.M.Skues

While the "Mr.Castwell" in the story gets to fly fish through eternity, he doesn't do it in heaven.

J.C., maybe you could print this story sometime. I'm sure it would amuse all readers.
