Can anyone tell me what action these rods have and are they good?
Thankyou
Danbo,
I am closely considering one of those specific rods for use on the 8-10" Rainbows in a small river back home. Are you satisfied with the rod? While it is an attractive price, that is far less important to me than the enjoyment of fishing with it. Does it balance OK with a 'normal' reel or did you have to find something specialised?
Any further details on the 6ft 2w greatly appreciated

Does the signature series 1 differ greatly to the tfo proffessinal rods.
same action danbo
works fine for me. It is my go to rod for panfish and such. I have the 7'6" 2 piece 3 wt.
I definitely would not say that the 6' 2wt has a medium to slow action. You may want to read this thread about that rod if you're considering it for small stream work. Quote: (Our smooth progressive tapers load fast but have the reserve power for distance and line speed.) from tfo site regarding series 1 fly rods.
I have two of the professional series rods in a four wt and also an eight wt. I was told by a TFO sales rep that the action from the series 1 and the pro series are the same, the differance is in the cosmetics and also 4 pc as opposed to 2 pc.
For as much as I know about fly rods I would consider the ones that I have to be a moderate to fast action. Don't take my word for it, the TFO rep says the same thing. -Yaf

I have a TFO Pro Series 6 wt. It's a 9 foot 4 Piece. It's definitely a moderate fast action. It also seems a bit heavier than other brands of the same specs. I wish I hadn't bought it to tell you the truth. Last week I was in Cabela's in Kansas City and I was test casting some rods in the pond outside. I thought the St.Croix Legend Ultra and the Cabela's house brand felt much better. For me at least the TFO feels like a heavy telephone pole in comparison.
A TFO series 1 #10 weight with a #9 WF-F seemed to have plenty of spline backbone left with about 40 feet in the air false casting! Actually was moderately fast & need to get the weight training grips out as thumbing the cast sent minor pain into the wrist! This is a light weight meat stick for pulling snook out of the mangroves & a small tarpon tamer!
That?s funny I asked a similar question about this rod too. I have a JA Forbes mag. reel with a 2wt. DT Cortland 444 lazer line on my rod. I've only used it in the winter so far which may add to my difficulties of line memory and guilds freezing up. It seems tough to get the rod to load until you have a bit of line out there then you start to loose control pretty quick when the line gets out past 25-30 ft. I don't usually cast small streams further than that but I like to know I can get it out there if I need it. To the rods defense, the line memory made getting the light line through the guilds more difficult and if there was any ice on the guilds too. Also, the time I was casting past 30ft. was with a size 10 bead head streamer which is a little big and heavy for 2 wt. line.
