The SPG780 is an E-glass blank and from what I understand, makes a nice little blank.

Hey Ken! There really aren't any rules. Lefty Kreh can cast a broomstick and HAS!
Once you get used to a taper, you'll be able to cast well enough to catch fish. Of course, certain materials and tapers seem better, or much better, but this is supposed to be fun! I say anything goes! Give it a shot and if you don't like it, try something else.
