    Default Cheap Popper

The wife sent me to the Dollar Store yesterday for some odds & ends. Of course I had to check things out for possible fly tying stuff. They have a bag of 200 foam beads for that dollar. The beads are in various shapes & colors and are drilled for stringing. They have excellent floatation qualities. I believe that could be used for strike indicators as well as poppers.

Photo 1 is 2 poppers. Photo 2 is a frontal of the top popper..

Sorry for the poor pictures but my camera went south.

I'm sure that if you cut off the bottom two "legs" on the star, it would float upright. Once you start catching fish on those "cheap" poppers, all the folks like me that spend time making real pretty poppers will feel badly because the fish really don't care

Redneck: Yes the hook sank down but I am not sure that is a bad thing. I put a leader on the popper and it has good action with that sunken hook. I could do what Jim said and I think that would correct it as it appears it is barely sinking. What I will probably do is add a foam strip along the hook shank like a humpy. I know that will work.

    Thanks
