    Default bamboo burl grip

I bought one of these from Cabela's, and was just curious what it is? It's kind of interesting looking, doesn't look like regular burl cork, but has a "corky" feel. Do they really make grips from bamboo burl?

I'm not sure what it is made of. I used one on a 4wt I built some time back, it's very brittle so be careful if you have to ream it. Mine split and had to be glued back together but ended up looking really nice.

    Question ...
Burl cork is made from a composite of cork pieces with glue and pressure. Does that mean the bamboo burl is little pieces of bamboo, mixed with cork with glue and pressure? They look kinda kool, and the price is good ... but how will they hold up to real fishing?

Glad to know it's not the greatest new thing - I guess I inadvertently used it on the best thing I could, a 4 wt Sig III that was only about 1/4 inch at the butt, so didn't have to ream it at all. We'll see how it holds up.

Bamboo Burl is a rubberized cork product kinda or whatever. Like Janus said, they are brittle, I destroyed one while reaming it. I just bought two more of these though at a certain place on the net since they were only $4.99 each.
Pac Bay has discontinued these grips, and they won't be available much longer.
