My dad said I should be on the stage, and there is one leaving in 1/2 an hour.

There's another stage, or two. Discovering fly fishing in nice warm places with fish which tear line off your reel making a rooster-tail! First it's any bonefish, then it's lots of bonefish, then it's really big bonefish. Then, oh my, barracuda, permit, tarpon. Keeps one from going into withdrawal during the cold months.

I think there is another stage that has been left out.

The stage were you have lost your mind and just try anything at all ... that is where I seem to be lately!

I am at the stagge where it is almost more fun to see someone else catch a fish than to do it myself.

Not there yet, but getting closer.

I'm at stage 6: Enjoy being anywhere catching fish on a fly I tied.

#1, 'catch any trout on a fly, unless I'm steelheading, warm water fishing or after false albacore!
Once I get that 'any trout', it's time to target the bigger ones or, if I'm with flytyer and Baxter, the most!
When they're not biting they are ALL the hardest!

I just enjoy being out and fishing. I have found almost more enjoyment out of teaching my kids and nieces and nephews how to fly fish.

I'm at the stage where the fishing is important, not the catching. On our recent Sea Run Cutthroat trip I truly enjoyed the fish I caught and released. I enjoyed watching VEE light up when she hooked into her first SRC. After that I could care less if I caught another, but was smiling from ear to ear with every fish VEE caught.

Just being fishing made it worthwhile.

It seems that I have always been at catch all the hardest trout on a fly .

    realisticly I'd say I'm at 2 3 and 4 .
I seldom catch small ones anymore and I occasionally net a big hard to catch one .
For God's sake, Don't Quote me! I'm Probably making this crap up!
