Actually it was the glue on that one, too tight was part of it, but he glued everything together and put it in a clamp to hold the rings together, the glue had nowhere to go but out. Shame too because it was a real mess to clean up without destroying the blank. It won't fill in the voids, but it will expand out in the direction of least resistance, so be careful.
