You should consider using flourocarbon fishing line. I have been using both Cabelas and Seaguar flourocarbon line for tippit material in 8 to 12 pound test and I have found this line to be tough and abrasion resistant. It is also much less expensive than buying fly fishing tippit material. A 200 yard spool of this line costs from ten to fifteen dollars. It probably has a larger diameter than fly fishing tippit material, but for your application (and mine which includes fishing for smallmouth, walleye, and other warm water fish) the tippit diameter won't make much of a difference.
