8wt, if you go to England you will find most of the things that you kiddingly mentioned. I post on two carp specific boards, Carp Anglers Group (CAG) and the American Carp Society, you can google both if you are so inclined. Most major fly fishing magazines have had carp articles included the FFF magazine.

Carp specific retailers? Sure, check these out:

I could go on and on, but I want you to know that carp fishing and fly fishing for them is here to stay. I was trying to make the point that manufacturers like Rio are taking fly fishing for carp from a fringe group to a main stream group. Just as there are bonefish, tarpon, bass, trout specific lines now we have a carp specific line. I'm happy indeed.

Sorry, meant no harm. I too, enjoy trying to fool one as they are very hard to catch. The only real success I've had was back in Ohio fishing a river with a long gradual falls on it. I would wade at the top of the falls, chum with some WK corn, and voila, a school would soon be feeding a short cast away. It was a simple task to cast a cheese yellow egg pattern on my 5wt and then hold on. Not very purist, but effective. I guess that was what prompted my post. I know they are much more revered in other parts of the world and deservedly so, they are a worthy quarry on the fly. Poor mans bonefish really.

Default Try Mastery Head Start line

Take a look at the Mastery Head Start line. It looks like the Carp line described and is around $43.00.

Carp boats - take a look at this. I fished with Andy and he could spot fish way before I did standing on his perch. A freshwater flats boat for the freshwater Bone.

Carp - don't knock 'em til you try 'em. As much fun as and more of a challenge than Steelhead and it's warm out.
To Miss Nancy - She hated fishing, but loved a fisherman.

I've got an outfit I use almost exclusively for carp (7wt, large arbor reel), so if I didn't just put new line on it, I'd probably take a very close look at purchasing this product. I actually put a bonefish specialized line on that rod (seemed to me the fishing styles matched)... only to be told this winter that that line was made for a certain temperature as well as a certain type of presentation, so I'm afraid it's going to be awfully coiled when I pull it out this spring.

Carp, I mean crap. Now I'll have to buy one of the new carp rods made specifically for this species to go with the new carp line.

But seriously, I do lots of fly fishing for carp and may just have to give this line a try.
