I would like to suggest a way to get kids thinking of fishing and anglers in general as a good bunch of guys. My kids are all grown and I acquired a few (about 3-4) different hip boots in various small sizes. I inspected them and found that they were not dry rotted and threw them in the back of my truck the first day of the season. Then when I saw an angler with a child teaching him or her how to fish and they did not have boots I simply stopped and handed the kid his first pair of boots. 100% of the time the look on their faces was worth it. 100% of the time the kid and their dad were trying to put the boots on before I drove out of sight. In fact, it is almost worth going out and buying some boots at a yard sale just to do this. As they say, try it you'll like it!
