Default How often, if ever, do you click on the sponsors on FAOL

I just clicked on Ronn L's name/ad/ sponsor and it brought up the advertising sponsors on FAOL... I clicked on several looking for either catalog or prices. I was wondering how often others check these ads out , (Do You?) and is a count kept on the number of 'click on's' ? If you haven't checked them out it might be nice to do so as ads from these folks help make this site possible. Just a thought....

    Hey Mantis,

Fairly often. I try to respond to a
number of questions each week. Most often
the info is already here on FAOL. Sometimes
it's in the sponsor section. I try to use
the sponsors where I can for my purchases
as well. Just so happens Ronn Lucas's site
was one of my more recent ones. I just
received all the goodies from him to tie
his spiffy iredescent scud pattern. Warm
    regards, Jim

I like to look for new information and products but there are 75 sponsors here (if I counted right) and many other companies who are not sponsors. It is hard to find the time to look at them all. This might be too difficult to do but a flag by the sponsor's name when there is new material would be very helpful.

Yes Jim, that is a great looking pattern.

That's the reason I'm here now. Just had to get a website address for a sponsor for a friend looking to buy a new rod and reel.

Since I have no local fly fishing shop, almost all of my ff gear is mail (or web) order. I go to the sposors first, before going to the magazines or elsewhere. So far I have found everything I need or want from one of the sponsors of the site. Right handy to have them all in one place.

On clicking thru I could swear that the insect repellant ad is using a pic of my mosquito fly...Cool if it is. (Ultrathon)

    Bob, RW here,

I check out the sponsor section all the time here on FAOL. After four years of hosting 3 slots a week and just hangin out on FAOL, I don't go there as often as I used to cuz I know what's on it. When JC tells us he has a new sponsor I usually go and check out the ad though. What I often do is send newbies there, or recommend, even astream, where an angler can find an ad for a particular thing they are looking for.

    Later, RW

    Hey there Mantis,
Not only do I "click" on em, I buy from them almost exclusively. AND I let em know why too.
I might suggest here and now that if we, as I do, enjoy FAOL, we should go WAY out of our "way" to buy from those who support the site.Be considerate when posting links to those who are not sponsors when there are sponsors who have same or similar products.
The tired expression " we are family here" if truly practiced means we must support those who support it. Regardless of the aura of friendship and warm fuzzziness ( did I hear three people faint??) exuded by JC and LF, this IS a business.
