    Default Helping Others (not FF)

Last night I was privileged to teach 19 people how to bake three different styles of bread (No-Knead bread, White Bread and Italian Bread), as well as how to make cake mix cookies ( I made the Double Chocolate Pecan Chewies in the What's Cooking archive). This was a fundraiser for our church's food pantry, and I'm pleased to say that we exceeded out expectations and raised $805 in just one evening. My thanks to all of the participants, and in particular my wife Linda and friend Carole who took care of the appetizers and beverage table, and who washed dishes and shuttled trays of ingredients from the kitchen to the preparation area for me. It would have been chaos without their able assistance. Here are a couple pics as space allows:

No-Knead fresh from the oven. It was so hot I couldn't hold it without an oven glove.

Happy "church ladies" sampling their first No-Knead bread with Italian herbs.

Here are the cake mix cookies cooling. All 4 dozen were consumed!

    Lastly, a class picture.

Everyone had a great time, and I'll be doing it again on Feb 28th to raise money for Easter meals for the food pantry.

Good stuff Joe. I'll take the cookies. Looks like one would make a full course meal. By the way, liked that last photo - "Two thorns among the roses!"

Thumbs up Way to go Joe.

$800 for a fund raiser ain't nothing to sneeze at. Good job Joe.
BTW, I made more of the cookies but this time I used banana crunch granola cereal, white chocolate chips and walnuts. MMMMM GOOD. The fellas at our Monday Night Football group made short work of them.
I'm going to make another 4 dozen for my Fly Fishing club meeting for Tuesday night. Keep the recipes coming. You buddy in the kitchen, Jimsnarocks.
I'm either going to, coming from or thinking about fishing. Jim
