I don't know a lot about fly fishing (see some of my posts but I do know about computer systems (over 30 years of experience).

Most commercial anti-virus and spyware systems go way to far with what they do to your machine. Many of the free systems are better and allow you more choices for how you want to manage things.

Adaware is very good and I agree with Ducksterman on everything he says. I use Mozilla exclusively at home. The only sites that I've found require Internet Explorer are some corporate web sites.

I also use Thunderbird for my email (I have DSL and its easy to set up). I stay away from Outlook or Outlook Express since they seem to be vulnerable to macro viruses.

I also use a free anti-virus package called "AntiVir". It comes from Germany and is free. You go on-line to get frequent updates.

Check Majorgeeks.com for free software for anti spyware and AntiVir.

Glad you got your machine straightened out and good luck. Now let's get back to fishing. I have a date with some striped bass over at Breezy Point, NY for tomorrow.
