I did not cut the part off that was in Mikes lathe. I smoothed it out with the sandpaper to the diameter of the butt section.

Hi all---my tool wouldn't get close enough to my live center on my lathe so i started the cut a little bit away from that--- I just cut mine off ---I used my band saw with an old blade because it will ruin a good blade.

i would think a permanent marker would color the fiberglass but it is really plastic (polyester) and glass---i wouldnt think it would soak in but let us know what you find out.
