See the link for photo of one of about 8 caught in some swift water...fall is on, they are wailing away at top water...several actually jumped over the fly...

Gotta love those smallies. Been hitting the river every Saturday that the weather has been decent.

Nice fish! Which river? Is that some kind of spider or what?

    Looks like fun!

Scioto River, it is my version of a Gurgler, tied with Kip Tail, Rubberv Legs and Craft Foam.

In the reports section there are some better pics.

That fly has outfished ANYTHING fo rme this year.

Nice looking fish. I think I need to get out to the local river and give it a try.

How does Smallmouth bass stack up to Large Mouth Bass in the skillet?

I'm not crazy about eating LMB and would much rather have Catfish, Shellcracker or Specks (Crappie).

Also, I've never fished for them. Sounds like a hoot to me to hook into one of those. I suppose on my next trip out of Florida I should try it.

The Gurgler is a terrific fly - a real producer. The smallies are really starting to put the feed bag on for winter. Gotta love 'em. They fight so hard.
    Good Tying and Good Fishing!
