Another great article. I enjoyed it.
The great whites are pretty common here in
SC. As a matter of fact, one of my red
eared sunfish honey holes is adjacent to a
cypress stand that harbors a rookerie of
these beautiful birds. I can sit and watch
them for hours with thier long spindley legs
perching on delicate limbs. It seems to
defy gravity. Next season I'll get you some
pics. The babies are the cutest ever. *G*
Many of thier beautiful feathers dot the
waters here and I'm sure some of our spey
tyers would love them if not for the laws
protecting them. It is awesome to watch
their mating ritual. The male can be
beautifully preened and looking fine, when
along comes a suitable female. It's as if
every feather on his body becomes unglued
and he suddenly looks like an overused
featherduster with feathers in high disaray.
Lovely creatures and fun to watch. Warm
