I've obtained a metal cannister manufacturered by the E.K. Tryon Company of Philadelphia, PA under a contract dated March 15, 1943. The container has the emergency fishing kit no.4 (open only for actual emergency use) labeled on the outside.
Inside is a dark green "apron" with open pockets that hold survival instructions, small spear, two large flies, rope line, hooks, sinkers, etc. The apron can be tied around the neck to wear.
The gentleman who gave this to me cannot remember much about this. He was in the air force in WW2 but does not know if this was given to all the military branches, or just pilots and sailors. I would like to donate this to the FFF museum in Livingston in his name but would like to send any info I can find along.
Any help would be appreciated.
