    Default Opinions on Legend Elite

Does anyone have or have any experience or opinions on the new green St. Croix Legend Elite (not the older brown ones).

I'm considering buying one. Likely a nine foot five weight. Only problem is there really isn't any place I can cast one near my home before purchasing. So if you've got one or have cast one, what's it like? Fast? Slow? Smooth? I currently use a bamboo five weight but there's times when graphite would be a better choice, like high-stick nymphing (my bamboo is very much a dry fly rod and doesn't perform well with weighted flies) so this rod would be used in those situations.

    Thanks for your replies.

Why not just get another cane rod for this duty? There are plenty of decent production models out there in the same price range you're looking at that will do the job very well.

Yes, they are very fast. Great rods at great prices. But, as with any rod purchase it is essential that you try one out first. IMHO

I'm tagging this more for info than providing a good answer. I have 3 of the Lengend Elites but they are the older brown blanks and I love them. My older Legend Ultra is a much slower action and hardly ever gets fished. I'll be curious as to the comments on the newer rods.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like its pretty much what I'm looking for....fast action, light weight AND they're a sponsor here. Think I'm going to go for it. Thanks again,
