Fishing report for Sept 8 to 15, 2008

The 1930's saw the door opened to the scientific side of BC sport fishing in 1935 with Albert H Peppar's book "The Mysteries of Angling Revealed". Peppar's work consisted of a discussion between a BC angler and a scientist on the ability of fish to see color.

In that same year, H J Parnam, covered Okanagan trout and salmon fishing in his book "A Nature Lover in British Columbia".

In 1938, Mrs. Katherine Gordon Brinley, penned "Away to the Canadian Rockies and British Columbia". In her work Mrs. Brinley speaks much about the opportunity and quality of angling in our BC Rockies.

Then in 1939, Roderick Haig-Brown released the first of his classic books "The Western Angler". In this work Haig-Brown gave a wide-ranging description of the fish and fishing available here in BC. Unbeknown to Haig-brown at the time, his first work "The Western Angler" was to become a reference book for the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Program at Cornel University, for fifty years.
