I sure agree with the premise of the article.

I lived on the west coast and watched the export of many many tons of herring roe to Japan. Sure it provides a few jobs in our coastal communities but the herring are what is needed to preserve our salmon stocks. When the Herring roe fishery first caught hold We locals noticed right away the decline in the Salmon both in size and in numbers. You cannot harvest the salmons food supply and expect the salmon to thrive. Would you dredge up the spawning beds of Trout or Bass and send the eggs away and still expect the stocks to thrive? It doesn't make sense, Frank does.

Just my opinion.
