"He's got more guts than a government mule". An old time Sgt of mine in the 60's.

"He's not worth the powder it would take to blow him to h***". My first boss at my first real job.

"He must eat gunpowder. He's always shooting off his mouth". High school history teacher attributing it to Harry Truman.

"There's a nip in the air today". The same very politically incorrect high school teacher above attributing the remark to Adm Kimmel on Dec 7th during a regular class. Try that today....

Just a few that I have never forgotten, so they must have made an impression in some way. Good thread.

"If there is a god, you can be certain he would be much happier if you were to work on the problem yourself, than for you to sit around asking him to fix it."
    or in another wording
"two hands working can do more than a thousand clasped in prayer"

    two sayings worth living by.

Don't judge a man by the wealth he has, but rather the wealth he needs.

to quote Lone Waddy in "The Outlaw Josie Wales":
"...he told us to 'endevour to perservere'. When we thought about it, we declared war on the United States."

Had totally forgotten this one! What a fun read!

    How 'bout ...

"Knowledge is knowing what you don't know".
Trouts don't live in ugly places.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

When you are trying to put God in a box don't be surprised when you turn around and He is handing you another nail.
